FASCHING, KARNEVAL, FASTNACHT, FASNACHT, 2015!
Jan 22, 2015
What are Fasching, Karneval, Fastnacht, Fasnacht? They are all one and the same thing: pre-Lenten festivities celebrated in grand style in the predominantly Catholic regions of German-speaking countries. The Rhineland has its Karneval, Austria, Bavaria and Berlin calls theirs Fasching, and the German Swiss celebrate Fastnacht. I think some of the celebrations in Germany are very interesting. These celebrationsare about dressing up in costumes. Fasching is aclown day in Germany. You dress up as aclown and celebrate with other people. Fassnacht is a mask day. These are interesting masks. All of the masks have a distinct style. Someare somewhat ugly, tall faces but there is some interesting culture to it. It would be nice if I expereinced these celebrations.-Henry
