The Sixth grade students are currently studying Ancient India.  Read their comments to find out what they have discovered.  Our first subjects are the physical geography of India and its people.  The second part will be about Religions of India.  Students will compare and contrast these religions to Catholism. Our last group of students will explore festivals of India, comparing their holidays and celebrations to those we celebrate.

Students created maps and studied not only the varying landforms of India, but also it's ancient people

Back in the ancient Indian times they had cities. They had no palaces or

temples.

All there buildings where the same, they where so the same that the

had the exact same sized bricks! They had water pipes under the city that

lead too wells. The wells gave the people water. Each building had a well.

To shower they took a bucket and poured it on them selves. They poured

water on the ground and used soap to scrub the floor. The toys were

made out of clay. And we believe that there was a some kind of disaster

that destroyed the city.

Gandhi Jayanti

By: icramm

In India there is a Holiday celebrating a noble hero that stopped an entire war using only his words much like our hero Martin Luther King Jr., That hero was named Gandhi. The holiday India celebrates is called Gandhi Jayanti and it celebrates the birth day of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi which is similar to Martin Luther King Jr. Day which celebrates his birthday. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on the 2nd of October. Gandhi Jayanti is one of India’s 3 national holidays. Gandhi was the main leader in India’s independence movement freeing India from the British, like Martin Luther King Jr. helped free all of the prejudice against blacks.
